Pioneers who settled the Plains traveled from far and wide, yet endured many similar joys and hardships. David Marsh's goals with his musical program are twofold: 1) to demonstrate the various cultures represented by these common experiences and 2) to share stories and sing songs that arose from homesteaders, cowboys, children's games, and the wonder of the wide open prairie.
A multi-instrumentalist, David Marsh also brings the Civil War to life through song and story. Children and adults alike will enjoy, learn from, and participate in songs from both sides of this epic American conflict, hearing the origins of patriotic tunes like "Dear Old Dixie" and "Battle Hymn of the Republic."

Chris Sayre invites his audience to share in the songs and melodies that were brought to Nebraska by the various European ethnic groups who settled here in the 19th and early 20th centuries. This includes music originating from the British Isles, Czechoslovakia, Germany, and the Scandinavian countries. Performed on the button accordion, English concertina fretted dulcimer, guitar, mandolin, musical saw and bowed zither, you will truly experience a Musical Smorgasbord.
On those same instruments, Sayer also delights by sharing songs of the Appalachian Mountains, the Deep South, as well as pioneer songs of the American West -- leaving his audience with a deeper understanding of the songs which shaped a nation.
